A priceless journey

Greg and Sue Townsend of Rochester wanted to give their son Adam a chance to play baseball with other children, so last summer they started an adaptive league, with help from the Rochester Youth Baseball Association.

This summer, the league has grown to 36 children who attend regularly, and the Townsends get help every week from volunteers, including VFW, American Legion and amateur baseball players.

According to parents, some children on the teams have become baseball fanatics and count the days until their next outing. For Greg Townsend, seeing his son hit a ball and run the bases has been "priceless."
